According to a classic Seinfeld episode "The Strike" December 23rd is officially "festivus.". In the show George reveals to Elaine and Jerry that his father invented a holiday called Festivus, an alternative to what he considered to be the over-commercialized holiday of Christmas. This ridiculous notion seems to still be on people's minds nearly 14 years later as many are still mentioning the idea today on twitter, social media and blogs across the Internet. People seem to still hold certain tv shows from the 90's still close to their hearts.

It turns out that the Chicago Cubs have hired a new manager, Dave Sveum. Sveum is to replace previous manager Mike Quade. Sveum has had more playing than managing experience, playing as a short-stop for the Milwaukee Brewers for 12 seasons, but the Cubs will hopefully give him a warm welcome nonetheless. There will be a press conference held tomorrow in Chicago at Wrigley Field to introduce him as the new manager. -NB 11/17/11
