Big Expectations for Cyber Monday

Tomorrow is Cyber Monday.  For the first time, Cyber Monday is holding just as much importance as Black Friday.  Cyber Monday is a sale, like Black Friday, but refers to sales specifically made on the Internet.  Last year, Cyber Monday sales hit $1 Billion, and this year sales are perjected to be $1.2 billion. This is a 20% increase and is said to be more of a business sale than Black Friday.  The Internet has already been noticed as prominent force in sales, but this Cyber Monday puts the picture even clearer.  Even on Black Friday, people purchased their deals on the Internet 35% more than last year.  After this week, we will see how the numbers turn out.

If you are looking for some of these deals, here are a couple of stores that have already begun their Cyber Monday sale, due to the fact that in certain places in the world, it is already Monay:

Groupon - A site that has local deals daily... is expanding on this for the upcoming week.
Old Navy
Gap -- Deals on clothes bought online
Amazon - pushing many of their deals already...  sales on electronics, video games, and everything else.

Dale Sveum hired as new Cubs' Manager

It turns out that the Chicago Cubs have hired a new manager, Dave Sveum.  Sveum is to replace previous manager Mike Quade.  Sveum has had more playing than managing experience, playing as a short-stop for the Milwaukee Brewers for 12 seasons, but the Cubs will hopefully give him a warm welcome nonetheless.   There will be a press conference held tomorrow in Chicago at Wrigley Field to introduce him as the new manager.

White House Shooting

Reported today, there has been a shooting at the White House where one man, Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, has been arrested.  Secret Service announced Wednesday that the man was arrested in Pennsylvania.  Reports say two bullets were fired, one hitting a bulletproof window and one hitting the exterior of the White House.  Secret Service reports say, "A round was stopped by ballistic glass behind the historic exterior glass. One additional round has been found on the exterior of the White House. This damage has not been conclusively connected to Friday's incident, and an assessment of the exterior of the White House is ongoing."  Ortega is still just a suspect, and no one was reportedly injured in the shooting.
